Update: December 4, 2020
Tomorrow begins tryouts for the 2020-21 season. As we mentioned in our last update, we are moving forward with the understanding that we will not be able to conduct in-person tryouts on the scheduled dates of December 5th (18u and 16U) and 12th (12u and 14U). As an alternative, we will be able to allow players who have registered for Southside tryouts to sign a Letter of Commitment for the upcoming season. We understand that this can be a tough decision so we have decided to conduct Tryout Zoom Meetings for those who have registered for tryouts where we will discuss the Letter of Commitment, the outlook of the season, and our new season club dues plan. Once registered for tryouts, we will send over the Zoom Meeting information, which we will host both Sunday the 6th and Monday the 7th.
After further deliberation, we are going to adjust our season club dues structure because of everything that is currently happening that may create an impact on the season. For this year, we will still be requiring the deposit when signing the Letter of Commitment, however, we will be moving toward a monthly payment plan that will last throughout the season. This monthly payment plan will provide the club and our families the flexibility to adjust accordingly to any mandatory changes we may face. With this change, there will not be an option for an upfront payment in full, nor we will not be able to accept cash or check payments. We have updated our Club Pricing structure to reflect the new play so please visit that page for the breakdown.
We appreciate your commitment to Southside and your willingness to adjust season plans as needed. Whatever the coming season entails, we will do whatever we can to give our athletes a chance to safely get on the court and play the game they love!

Update: December 1, 2020
With the recent “Freeze” mandate, we have been in communication with CEVA to determine how this will impact the upcoming CEVA sanctioned tryouts and the 2020-21 season. The freeze was set to end December 2 for our county, which is prior to the scheduled tryout dates of December 5th and 12th, and we were hopeful that this would be lifted so we could host in-person tryouts. However, with the recent news that counties are now moving into “risk levels”, it is looking as though tryouts may not be possible in-person on those dates; each week we will be receiving new information detailing whether our county has moved into a lower risk level or has remained in the same risk level. With that being said, as of November 30, CEVA has decided not to postpone tryouts and has kept the original dates set as scheduled. Below is our plan for the upcoming season.
We are moving forward with the understanding that we will not be able to conduct in-person tryouts on the scheduled dates of December 5th (18u and 16U) and 12th (12u and 14U). This can be subject to change depending on the risk level our county is assessed week-by-week, and if the county has moved into a lower risk level, Southside will host in-person tryouts. As an alternative, we will have players who have registered for Southside tryouts sign a Letter of Commitment for the upcoming season on the day of tryouts. Everyone who registers and commits on their tryout date will have a guaranteed position in the club for the 2020-21 season, this includes families that are new to Southside Once CEVA sanctioned in-person participation is allowed, we will then conduct a structured “Team Placement” day, allowing us to form specific teams. Regardless of what our tryouts look like for this season, Southside is prepared to offer you a full club program with coaches who are excited to begin training.
As most of you know, Southside partners with Courthouse Club Fitness. Courthouse Club Fitness will be hosting multiple playing opportunities for ages 5th through 12th grade at various locations in December for all Courthouse members. All athletes who register with Southside and sign a Letter of Commitment are provided a Courthouse membership during the season and will be allowed access to any of these opportunities. Families who are unsure if they are going to join the Southside program could participate in these sessions for a membership fee.
Currently, CEVA has not adjusted the season schedule so we will be proceeding with the same expectation and all current tournament dates. However, they will be providing weekly updates, keeping Club Directors informed.
The club dues for this season will remain unchanged at this time with the season scheduled continuing as planned. Where you will see adjustments this year is during Tryouts and Team Placements. When signing the Letter of Commitment, the deposit will be due, but that will be all. When we approach Team Placements and players are placed on a team, parents can then pay the rest of the balance in full or continue on with installments. All of our rates can be found under the Club Pricing.
The deposit is non-refundable because it goes toward your child’s uniforms, sweatshirt and practice t-shirt, administrative fees as well as initial coach wages and costs which have gone into the start-up of our season.
We would ask for your continued patience as we wait for more information in the coming weeks. We appreciate your commitment to Southside and your willingness to adjust season plans as needed. Whatever the coming season entails, we will do whatever we can to give our athletes a chance to safely get on the court and play the game they love!
