Recently, a long-time Courthouse Group Fitness Instructor Ona Wolcott posted a beautiful story on her Instagram, accompanied by a familiar scene of Ona teaching R30 at Keizer.

She wrote:

Grateful for movement!

In 2010, I was an introverted parent seeking a work-life balance that allowed me to spend quality time with my children. I began my journey at Courthouse in the kids’ court, where I developed great admiration for instructors making a positive impact. Despite struggling with social anxiety and depression, I aspired to overcome my comfort zone limitations. Leading classes proved daunting, as I battled self-doubt and mistakes, but perseverance paid off.

Today, although social anxiety persists, I transform when on stage, embracing confidence and freedom to be myself, bringing harmony to my soul.

We are grateful for Ona (and so many Instructor like her) who inspire our members every single day to reach deeper, work harder, get braver, and enjoy the blessing the movement.

Over the last two years, we have enjoyed gathering on the first Friday morning of every month. During these mornings, we furnish our lobbies with free coffee and snacks.

Since we started First Friday, our lobbies have changed. A lot! With the exception of Battle Creek, each Club now has its own Coffeebar, serving gourmet coffee drinks, tea, and smoothies.

Take A Class/Training & Get a Free Drink/Snack

Through the end of the year, FREE 12oz specialty drinks (espresso drinks, smoothies, etc.) will be available during First Friday at the Coffeebar counter when you take a Group Fitness Class or Training session (either Spartan or Performance). FREE snacks will also be available at the Coffeebar. Just snag your snack along with your drink.

Free drip coffee will be available for all members at the Coffeebar counter.

This Friday at West Only: Meet First Bite Organics Owner

we are extremely excited to announce our newest partnership: First Bite Organics

They will be bringing their delicious, organic, locally grown snack, treats, and meals to Courthouse in November, starting at the West Salem Coffeebar and expanding to our other locations in the coming months.

In fact, you can meet First Bite owner (and farmer, recipe-maker, and more!) Sheryl Mullin at the West Salem Club on Friday, November 1st, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Shake her hand, learn more about her business, and grab a free sample.

First Bite Organics grows all of their food without harmful chemicals on their 30-acre farm in South Salem. They will bring in new items every week.

See you Friday!

Courthouse gear on our staff.

Every season, we bring in brand new Courthouse branded gear designed by our in-house team.

For our Fall line, our freshly released line features a cozy zip-up hoodie, ready-for-a-walk crewneck sweatshirt, ready-for-a-workout t-shirts, and ready-for-anything MiiR tumblers.

You can purchase any (or all!) of Courthouse gear at the West Salem, Lancaster, and Keizer locations. We will release the complete line at South River Road and Battle Creek in the coming months.

You may have already noticed Baristas, Coaches, and other staff rocking the new looks. Anything on their shoulders or in their hands is available at the Coffeebar counter.

Delicious. Local. Organic. Convenient.

Starting November 1st, 2024 Courthouse will partner with First Bite Organics to provide convenient snacks, treats, and meals to Courthouse members.

All ingredients are grown locally on First Bite’s 30-acre farm in South Salem without the use of harmful sprays or chemical pesticides. Every snack, treat, and meal are minimally processed. To stay at fresh as possible, menus will change weekly.

We will begin offering First Bite items for purchase in our West Salem Coffeebar starting on November 1st. Soon after, more Clubs will begin stocking First Bite items.

Why First Bite?

For years, we have encouraged our members to Eat Real Food as part of our Fit Five–our simple how-to for healthy living. To us, whole foods are central to living a healthy, active lifestyle. This partnership makes delivering this type of food to members as easy as possible.

So, as you leave the Club, grab a snack! Or, if the day is getting away from you and cooking is not possible, snag a meal. And whenever you’re getting a coffee, be sure to accompany it with a delectable treat.

First Bite Organics will be coming to our West Salem Courthouse Coffeebar on November 1st.

The major remodeling project at Battle Creek carries on! We are excited to see the progress and grateful to our outstanding members and partners at Kaufman Commercial Construction.

Here are some important alerts:

  • Day-use lockers will be removed tomorrow, October 1st.
  • The main entrance will be closed for new lobby flooring on October 10th and 11th. The side entrance will be open for use during these two days. Also, Kids Court will be closed during these days.

The Club will operate as normal, including scheduled classes, Training sessions, and programs.

As we wrap up the lobby, we take one step closer to the opening of the next Courthouse Coffeebar at Battle Creek. We expect to begin pulling shots, foaming milk, and blending smoothies in November.

We deeply appreciate your patience and understanding as we work towards completing this significant project. As of this posting, our target wrap-up date of January 2025 remains on track!

The kids are back in school. This means parents like you are establishing a new routine. And you are doing your best to include exercise in that routine. If you’re like most parents, you aren’t aiming for transformation; you want consistency. In our experience guiding thousands of members (mostly families), we have discovered these three important steps to building a consistent exercise routine.

Tent-Pole Days

If you exercise on Monday, you are FAR more likely to show up to the gym on other days of the week. This functions as a tent-pole day: it is the day the rest of the week rests on.

  • Find a window of time you can exercise every Monday (or another day early in the week) and mark it in your calendar.
  • Choose a group exercise class, training session, or activity (like Pickleball or basketball) to attend within that window. It is much easier to show up when others will be there to welcome you.

You do not have to start building your routine by planning out everyday of the week. Just start with one day.

Tell Someone

You don’t have to commit to climbing Mount Hood or rowing across the Pacific to share your goals with others. Even relatively small goals are worth sharing. By tell someone about your plans to build an exercise routine, you make your intentions real. You also invite someone you care about to encourage you, to check on your progress, to keep you accountable.

It can be as simple as a text:

Hey! Just wanted to you to know: I’m going to start exercising more often. Right now, I’m committing to 4-5x a week. Feel free to check on how I’m doing.

Ask for Help

Sticking to an exercise routine is hard. At Courthouse, we do our best to make it simple and fun. We also provide free guidance from a Coach to all of our members. Coaches can recommend classes, offer lifestyle guidance, and are consistently in the Clubs to provide encouragement and accountability.

Even if you have met with a Coach before, take the transitional back-to-school season to establish a new routine, try a new class, and set new goals.

Progress continues throughout the Club. The pool area will close from August 19th through August 21st.

Crews continue to make impressive progress with this massive project. In the locker rooms (where the most significant work is taking place), shower infrastructure is being built and installed. Elsewhere throughout the Club, you will continue to see more work being done.

We still plan to open Battle Creek’s Courthouse Coffeebar this fall. We are excited to bring a full espresso menu, protein-packed smoothies, and other treats to the updated lobby space.

Hot Tub Closed August 19-21 for Replastering

The hot tub will be closed Sunday 8/18 – Saturday 8/24. We anticipate reopening Sunday 8/25.

The pool area will be closed entirely from 8/19 – 8/21 to allow for demolition. Group classes and lessons are cancelled during these days.

Pools and hot tubs at all other Clubs will be open during this time.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we complete this necessary task. Doing so will keep our pools clean, beautiful, and functional for as long as possible.

What are your current roles at Courthouse? What is most rewarding about those roles?

Hospitality Manager at West, Age2O Instructor, and summer sub Instructor for Age Restore

These three positions each have their rewards. Being in leadership and up front allows me to use and showcase many of my strengths and abilities, like helping people find solutions for their current challenges, making members and employees feel welcomed when they are here at our Club, and everything that involves customer service.

Being an Age2O Instructor is rewarding because of the daily impact I get to make on members who take my class. I have a lot of energy, and I get to keep members motivated to finish the workout and feel good doing it!

Subbing for Age Restore has allowed me to re-engage with members and staff. For instance, I had three new people take my Restore class this morning, and I couldn’t tell you how happy it made me that they showed up and liked it. Plus, they said they had never done something like it before but planned to make it a part of their workout week!

How do you train at the Club?

I spend most of my time in the weight room following my own program, but I love jumping into a Performance or Spartan session. CORE and R30 are my favorite classes to take pretty regularly.

What do you do to stay active outside the Club?

I love being outside! I kayak, hike, walk, or paddle, and I steer for my dragon boat team, the Highland Roosters.

Tell us about a member who inspires you.

Lola Hackett. When I was a trainer, I saw her almost daily. She is 75 years young and inspiring because no matter how many people are in Performance or Spartan with her, she will give it her all. She shows up consistently, which is motivating in itself. She is so kind and sweet, with birthday and holiday wishes and cat stories for me; she will always hold a special place in my heart.
